Global Art India conducted the Regional “Kolor Champ” Art Competition on September 16th Kalaa Manjari’s students did very well and we won 2 CHAMPION Trophies and lots of Best of Best trophies. Hearty Congratulations to all participants and Winners.
Kalaa Manjari and Bambara successfully conducted the second edition of the ‘ Map Ur Way ‘ workshop/ walk and contest on August 26th, Sunday between 3 pm and 6 pm as part of the Madras Week Celebrations. ‘Map ur Way’ is a fun learning session on how to make and read maps followed by a walk in the neighborhood and a contest. All the kids totally enjoyed the sessions and were highly enthusiastic about the concept.
Certificate distribution function for the prize winners of internal completion for the months of February, March & April was held on 28th of April 2012. Along with this the felicitation function for Mrs. Lydia was also held.
The Internal competitions at Kalaa Manjari are a super hit with the children . Look at the amazing creative creations churned out by the kids.
The first student from Kalaa Manjari to have her Bharatnatyam Salangai Pooja Selvi. A.Shweta . Under the guidance of her Guru Smt Kala Karthikeyan she gave a super performance. With the blessings of all patrons wishing for many more in the future!!
Kalaa Manjari conducts chess tournament for children in the sub-junior, junior and senior category twice a year on January 26 (Republic Day Tournament) and August 15 (Independence Day Tournament)
As part of MADRAS DAY celebrations, Kalaa Manjari organized a painting / handwriting competition for children in the age group of 4 years and above.
The drawing/ painting competition drew an awesome response with hundreds of registrations and participation from all over the city ! The children took part with great enthusiasm. The topics for the 4 – 7 / 8-10 were Clean Green Chennai and for children in class 6 and above the topic was ‘Places of Interest in Chennai’
The Handwriting competition also was a grand success with participants from all over the city !
The question sheets were Chennai based so the children learnt about the city while flaunting their best handwriting!
As part of The Madras Week Celebrations, Kalaa Manjari After School Activity Center and Bambara Toy Library conducted a Map-Making Workshop titled ” MAP UR WAY ” for the kids on 20th Aug 2011. The kids were explained the brief history of maps and cartography, its various uses and how to make a simple map of one’s neighborhood with the help of power point presentation. After the workshop, the kids were taken for a walk in the neighborhood and based on their observations, kids as a group, created their own maps of the area with the various landmarks. Kids above 10 years of age participated and benefited from the workshop. Being the first workshop on map making conducted in Chennai, kids enjoyed the interactive workshop and enthusiastically participated in the contest. Similar workshops on various topics of interest are being planned in the future too. The question sheets were Chennai based so the children learnt about the city while flaunting their best handwriting.
Kalaa Manjari’s efforts to encourage children in all activities continues unabated. Our latest effort was a workshop on Hindustani Vocal.
Isteel India’s leading manufacturing company brought out their yearly diary which carried images done by our children. So, 12 creative children contributed 12 interesting art works for the diary the same was very well appreciated by one and all.
Kalaa Manjari had a Global Art stall at Vidya Mandir as a part of Fun-Fest 2011.The children were given sheets of paper and coloring material and an interesting game to bring out the creativity and talent with-in the children. The photos show the children taking part in the games with great enthusiasm.
Kalaa Manjari in association with Global Art conducted a painting competition ‘War of the Brushes – Version 3 ‘ for the children of members of Presidency Club! The competition saw a great turn out of more than 90 enthusiastic children on a pleasant Sunday morning. The registration started in the morning and the entire competition lasted for 2 hours. The age groups were 4-6 years, 7 -12 years and 13 -16 years. The President and other Committee members attended the Prize distribution ceremony. Kalaa Manjari and Global Art are happy to conduct the event year after year and make it a grand success!
